The Kick-off meeting for the Integrated Projects, financed by the Program LIFE was held on February 6, 2019 in the building of the Kartuizer Centre in Brussels. The meeting was opened by Mr. Angelo Salsi – Head of the Program LIFE at the European Agency for SME. He underlined the significance of the Integrated Projects for meeting the environmental and climatic targets of the EU.
Ms. Yoanna Hristova, Deputy Mayor of Sofia municipality presented the Integrated Project “Bulgarian Municipalities Working Together to Improve Air Quality” - LIFE IP CLEAN AIR under Grand Agreement LIFE17 IPE/BG/000012. Sofia municipality participates in the Project in partnership with the municipalities Burgas, Veliko Turnovo, Montana, Ruse and Stara Zagora as well as Club “Economika 2000” in their capacity of Associated Beneficiaries.
The main goals of the Project were presented as well as the key activities and the additional activities for PM reduction from the Air Quality Management Programs of the six municipalities, which will be implemented in parallel with the implementation of the IP. The expected results from the implementation of the Project are reduction by 160 tons of PM emissions into the atmosphere each year and a further reduction by 3700 tons/year as a result of the implementation of the additional activities.
